Refund & cancellation
Refunds and how to cancel.
Short version: 30-day full refund on any purchase, no questions asked. After your first year the $39/yr maintenance auto-renews; we email you a reminder 7 days before each charge, and cancelling is one click in Stripe. Your data stays on your PC either way.
Written in plain English, and in effect today.

30-day refund window
If you change your mind within 30 days of purchase, you get a full refund — no explanation required. The refund posts back through Stripe (our payment processor) to your original payment method. We do this regardless of how far you got with the app.
How to request a refund
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “Refund request” and the email address you used at checkout.
- We process it within 1 business day. Stripe sends a confirmation email when the refund posts — typically 3-5 business days back to your original payment method.
- We mark your license as refunded on our server. The app re-checks its license about once a week, so within about a week it stops opening and shows a “license inactive” screen — a refund reverses the purchase, so the app winds down with it. This applies to refunds of your original purchase: refunding a $39 maintenance renewal never deactivates the app — we refund the renewal charge and your app license stays active.
- Your DataFolder on your disk stays intact — every byte. We never delete your data. One thing to do first if you use the optional at-rest encryption: export a plain copy of your data (or switch encryption off in the app) before requesting the refund — once the license deactivates, the app can’t decrypt the files for you. Unencrypted folders are plain files you can open in Excel any time.
After the 30-day window
Refunds outside the 30-day window are at our discretion. We’ll consider edge cases:
- Duplicate purchases (we’ll refund the extra)
- Fraudulent or unauthorized charges (refund + investigation)
- Technical issues that prevent the app from running on your hardware (we’ll either fix it or refund you)
- Significant billing errors on our end
Outside those, the 30-day window is the line. Once you’ve been using the app beyond a month, you’ve had time to evaluate it — and you keep the version you have whether you renew maintenance or not.
Cancelling your annual maintenance
After your first year (which is included in the one-time purchase), the $39/yr maintenance auto-renews. You’ll get a renewal reminder email 7 days before each annual charge, so you always have time to opt out if you don’t want to continue.
To cancel: click Manage subscription inside the desktop app (or in any Stripe receipt or renewal-reminder email). It opens a Stripe-hosted portal where you cancel in one click. Takes about 5 seconds; no support email to send.
When you cancel, your maintenance stays active for the rest of the period you’ve already paid for — you don’t lose anything you bought. After that, your app stays on the version you have, your data files stay on your disk, your DataFolder keeps working. You just stop getting new tax-rules updates, new bank parsers, new features, plus cloud-side extras (Glide AI and the phone-access bridge stop).
If you decide later to come back, you can renew the maintenance from the same Stripe portal (or email [email protected]) and you’re current again from that day forward.
Accidental renewal? If you meant to cancel and the auto-renew charged anyway (you missed the reminder, the email went to spam, life happened), email us within 30 days of the charge for a full refund. We don’t play games with the “you should have cancelled in time” argument.
What lapses when maintenance lapses
- Tax-rules refresh — your app keeps using the IRS tables that were current on your last paid day. Fine for a year or two of light use; matters more if you’re actively tax-planning a Roth conversion.
- Bank parser updates — if Chase / Amex / Citi / BoA changes a CSV format, your import for that bank might stop until you renew. Your old data stays.
- Glide AI helper — Glide’s built on our paid Anthropic account; lapsing maintenance turns Glide off. (Heavy users can paste their own Anthropic API key on the in-app License page to keep it active independently.)
- Private subdomain — the phone-access URL stops resolving.
Your local desktop install on
localhost:5000keeps working without the phone access. - Email support — you’d be on a best-effort basis instead of priority.
What doesn’t lapse: the desktop app itself, your data, all existing reports, all existing imports, the local web UI. You bought a tool; you keep the tool.
Adult-use product
GlidePath Money is intended for users 18 years or older. If you’re purchasing this for a household where a minor will have access, you (the adult license holder) are responsible for their use of the app.
Questions about a charge
Email [email protected] with the date and amount of the charge. We’ll look it up against your license and either refund it, explain it, or escalate it — a human reads every one.
For payment-method disputes (chargebacks), please email us first. We respond directly to chargeback inquiries through Stripe’s dispute process, but a quick email usually resolves the underlying issue faster than going through your card issuer.
